Courage Against Cancer Foundation (“CAC,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN 39-4608206) located at 1723 E Hedgecroft Dr, El Lago, TX 77586. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you visit courageagainstcancer.org (the “Site”) or interact with our programs, including the CAC Wellness Playbook and CAC Wellness Scouting Report.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide Directly

  • Contact form: your name, email address, and message when you reach out to us.
  • Email newsletter signup: your name and email address when you subscribe to updates. We use a third-party email service provider (Mailchimp) to manage and send these communications.
  • Donations: when you donate, your payment is processed through WordPress.com’s payment infrastructure. We receive your name, email, and donation amount for receipting purposes; we do not store your full payment card details, which are handled directly by our payment processor.
  • CAC Wellness Playbook / Scouting Report enrollment: if you enroll in these paid programs, you may provide contact information and, where applicable, information related to genomic or microbiome testing conducted by our testing partners. Any health-related information you choose to share with us is used only to support your participation in the program and is not sold or used for advertising purposes.

Information Collected Automatically

When you visit the Site, we (and our service providers) may automatically collect certain information through cookies and similar technologies, including your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, time spent on pages, and the site that referred you. This may include:

  • Site analytics: WordPress.com/Jetpack Stats, and Google Analytics, to understand how visitors use the Site.
  • Advertising: Google Ads conversion tracking and remarketing cookies, used to measure the performance of our nonprofit advertising (including through the Google Ad Grants program) and to show relevant ads to past visitors on other sites.

You can control cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google’s advertising cookies at adssettings.google.com or through the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.

How We Use Your Information

  • To respond to your questions and messages
  • To process and receipt donations, including for tax-deduction purposes

  • To measure and improve the performance of our advertising, including our Google Ad Grants account
  • To comply with applicable law and our recordkeeping obligations as a nonprofit organization

How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with:

  • Service providers who help us operate the Site and our programs (e.g., our website host WordPress.com, our email provider Mailchimp, our payment processor, and our testing partners for Wellness Playbook participants), who are only permitted to use it to provide services to us
  • Government authorities or others when required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of CAC, our supporters, or the public
  • Any other party, with your consent

Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, including to maintain donor and program records as required for our nonprofit tax and legal obligations, after which it is deleted or anonymized.

Your Choices

You may unsubscribe from our email list at any time using the link in any email we send. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, contact us at info@courageagainstcancer.org.

Children’s Privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Educational Content, Not Medical Advice

Information you may voluntarily share with us through a form or message is used only to respond to you or administer our programs. It is not stored as part of a medical record, and CAC is not a healthcare provider. Please see our Terms of Service for our full medical disclaimer.

Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect the information we collect, including operating the Site entirely over HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
